The Life You Were Designed For

Are You Living The Life You Were Designed For? How does one know what kind of life they were designed for?  We don’t get a blueprint with our birth certificate telling us what we are designed to do with our lives.  So how do we know if we are in the right place, doing the right thing, and accomplishing what we are supposed to accomplish?

The first step would be to ask yourself if you are happy and fulfilled. Are you living according to your values and passions?  These are great indicators, showing you very clearly if you are on the right track for living the life you were designed for.

If you resonate with any of this, then it’s time to take action and start the process of change; the first thing to do is check out what is going on in your subconscious mind.

We are programmed at a very early age to think a certain way.  Over the years we develop thought patterns that either work for us or against us.  We develop a belief system about ourselves that determine what kind of life we live.

For instance, regularly procrastinating, putting things off over and over again creates a subconscious mindset that forces you to put things off.  Anything you do repeatedly becomes a habit and is stored in your subconscious mind. These habits become a part of who you are. This is an excellent example of how our mind works in setting the pattern of how we think and live.

Creating new thoughts and images in your head requires building new connections between the neurons in your brain. At first these connections are weak. You’re cutting through years of ingrained habitual thoughts. However, the more this new connection is made the stronger it gets.  In order to have balance in your life, you need to start to rewire the neurons in your brain and change your thought patterns to be in alignment with who you really are.

Deep inside, you know from a very early age who you are and what you believe you would like to do; you dream and make plans for the future, but family members, friends, teachers, etc. unknowingly dissuade you from believing what you know to be true about yourself.  Consequently, you go through life, not acknowledging that inner person and never really feeling like you fit in.  That inner person has been so squashed over time; you probably never even give it any thought until you realize one day that you are not happy.  At that point, we usually blame our unhappiness with our circumstances, the people in our life, etc., and we turn to various diversions.  This only camouflages the situation.

Of all the beautiful truths pertaining to the soul which have been restored and brought to light in this age, none is more gladdening or fruitful of divine promise and confidence than this – man is the master of thought, the molder of character, and the maker and shaper of condition, environment and destiny.”

As a being of Power, Intelligence and Love, and the Lord of his own thoughts, man holds the key to every situation, and contains within himself that transforming and regenerative agency by which he may make himself what he wills”….James Allen, As A Man Thinketh

Our human identities are often based on social structures, inherited generational tendencies, comments made by well-meaning and not so well-meaning individuals we associate with, teachings we learned from our parents from very early childhood, peer pressure to fit in, experiences of life, rejections, disappointments, etc.  As you can see from this list, there are many factors that influence you as to who you think you are.

From ‘Day One’, the date of your birth, you have been destined to be a certain kind of person and deep within your heart, you know it.  You have always known it but have cast it aside because whenever you tried to express your true self, you were cut down.

I know, because that is what happened to me.  I have always known what I was destined to be but because of circumstances, I didn’t trust or believe in it.  It’s taken me a long time to see the truth and now I do and I can’t tell you what that has done for me.  It has released me from all my doubts and fears and I can go forward and know I am doing the right thing.

We all have an inner core of being that needs to be expressed in order to feel fulfilled and complete.  I have had many teachers along the way and I know from experience that this is something we all need help with.  We can’t do this on our own; the negative aspects are too strongly embedded in our subconscious mind for us to willingly go through the self-examination in order to unfold what has kept us from being who we were meant to be.

We have a tendency to hide behind the façade we have set up for ourselves so that we can feel accepted and be part of the group.  Once you have removed the façade and faced the truth, your life will start to change and all those feelings that you have repressed will start to come to the surface.  You will start to recognize the truth of those feelings and know that you were right all along and, “WOW”, what a release!   This is when you start living the life you were designed for.

So, where do you begin?  My suggestion would be to seek the help of a coach, because you need someone who can be objective and is trained to ask questions that will start the process of examining your life and getting at the core issues.  You will have to start making significant changes and that requires tools that will help you rewire the neurons in your brain. Through repetition and reinforcement, guidance and feedback, you can create new neural highways so that you respond and act in ways which will help you align your life with who you really are.

A word of caution; transformation takes time and a lot of effort.  You will need to stay focused on your goals and understand that you are a work in progress.
