Stop Dieting & Start Losing Weight!

We all want to be slimmer, healthier and happier regardless of how much we weigh – it goes with the territory of being a female type person.  It doesn’t seem to affect men as much as it does women so my message is to women who will no doubt pass this information on to the men in their lives.

First and foremost – take the word ‘diets’ out of your vocabulary.  They do not work for you – they may seem to at first but in the long run – they work against you.  They put your body in a fight or flight mode which causes stress, which causes your body to start producing lots of cortisol.  Cortisol is a great thing when it’s doing what it was designed to do.  It reduces inflammation from wounds when you’re injured and it also helps you wake up in the morning when you have something important to do.

But when your adrenal glands, which secrete cortisol, are running day and night from continous stress without any breaks, the cortisol levels in your blood can become dangerous.  It is also one of the main causes of ‘belly fat’ which has lots of receptors for cortisol (where cortisol is absorbed).  If you’re producing cortisol all day long – then you’re going to need a lot of ‘belly fat’ to re-absorb all of that cortisol.

If you have a problem with your weight, you are already under undue stress and diets will only exacerbate the stress.

Diet foods are loaded with chemicals that will be absorbed into the fat cells in your body simply because they are alien and the body, with it’s infinite intelligence, does not know what to do with them.  Artificial sugar is also a big no no!  This is the worst of the worst as far as all the damage they do to your system.  Sugar is addictive so it is best to avoid it altogether if you are struggling with your weight.  MSG in all its variety of code names is also to be avoided – it stimulates your appetite and makes you hungry for more food.  Sodium benzoate, a preservative, is one of the top chemicals to avoid.  It is given to cattle before they go to market to fatten them up – does the same for your body. 

So read the labels and become informed as to what you are putting in your body.  Would you put an inferior oil into your expensive car – of course not.  Your best bet is to stay away from all processed food and only buy whole foods like fresh vegetables and fruit, whole grains, nuts and seeds and organic whenever possible.  Be very discriminating in choosing meat, poultry, fish and dairy products.  You may have to pay more but the price you pay for diet programs, ill health, etc. is far more.

The bottom line, is eat only foods you really enjoy and are nutrient dense.  Your body will crave what it is lacking in nutrients and will cause you to consume more calories than you can burn in a day.  Stay away from junk food as much as possible.  There are times when that is all that is available and rather than put yourself under stress, eat it and enjoy knowing it’s a temporary situation.  Be happier, healthier, slimmer and live a longer life.
